Spring Is Here – How Are YOU Going To Improve?

The spring season is upon us, and it’s time to knock the dust off the clubs and set your goals for the season. What are your plans for improving and reaching your potential? We don’t want to spend hours, even months struggling on the course and range searching for the magic secret!! Let’s form a game plan and come out of the gates in mid-season form!
Here’s some suggestions to help you get started:

  • Take a serious and realistic assessment of your game.
    • Look at your best & worst rounds. What was different? What went well, and what suffered?
    • Do you have a pattern to your missed shots? If improved, what area of your game would make the biggest impact on your score?
    • Invest in a game tracking device like Arccos or Game Golf – these can show you exactly where you are gaining and losing shots!
  • Pick 1 or 2 areas that need the most improvement!
    • Maybe it’s slicing your driver, and losing shots on pitches; or bad lag putting and not enough Greens in Regulation. Don’t tell yourself “It’s my whole game!” – pick small areas that can make a big impact.
  • Start with those two areas and focus your practice around improving them. You’ll need a way to measure your improvement – games, skill challenges, and practice tracking are great ways to gauge improvement.
  • Set goals for realistic improvement. If you’re averaging 4 Greens in Regulation, set a goal of improving 1 more GIR per round for the next 4 weeks. Statistics show every GIR = 2 shots!
  • Have a PLAN!! Don’t go to the range and beat balls! Develop a practice plan that allows you to get the most out of your practice time. I promise you,  Atlanta Falcon’s Coach, Dan Quinn doesn’t show up at practice and tell the team to “toss the ball around for a while, and call it a day,” and you don’t approach your business meetings that way either! If you have 45 minutes, make it count!
  • Focus on basics!
    • Start with your fundamentals – posture, balance, center face contact, etc.
    • For full swings, look where the ball starts! A ball that starts off-line is doomed – this is caused by the clubface, so turn your attention to the face if the ball is starting off-line. (See the “Tip of the Month” below for help with this!)
    • For putting spend time on direction and distance! Work on your direction with 3-5 foot putts – get the ball starting online. Then roll longer putts to the fringe or a 3 foot circle to build better touch.

Let’s Get Started

Two Programs, One Goal

Our goal with junior golf is simple: Help juniors develop a love for the game, keep them constantly improving, and make it FUN! This year we offer two amazing programs to create long-term development! Both programs utilize cutting edge techniques and mobile apps to help coaches, parents, and students communicate and stay on track!

Operation 36

This program is for our beginner-intermediate players and is a structured curriculum focusing on one topic weekly with 9 hole matches twice per month. Players learn the skills to shoot 36 for 9-holes, starting at 25 yards and moving back after completing the goal. Through weekly academy classes, juniors work through 12 objectives to “rank up” to the next level.

This program has space available in our weekly classes – to learn more or enroll your junior, click HERE

USA Junior National Team
This advanced program is designed for the junior playing tournament golf with the desire to take their game to the next level. Meeting 3-hours weekly, this group focuses on all areas of the game and utilizes monthly benchmark testing to help players identify strengths and areas that need additional attention.

Practices involve skills challenges, practice planning, and working through the college recruiting process.
