Happy Thanksgiving

From

Rob Stocke Golf

I want to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving! I know we all have much to be thankful for this year. Hopefully, your 2015 has been a great one for you and your family. I know I’m thankful for all the great students I’m blessed to help throughout the year – so thank you all!

I am very honored to announce that I have been named as one of Golf Range Magazine’s TOP 50 Growth of the Game Instructors for 2015. This is a great honor which would not be possible without the support of so many amazing students! Thank you for all your support!

Practice with a purpose – Play with conviction
How we practice will have an enormous affect on how we PLAY! If you are just hitting and raking balls, with no specific target, you are really just exercising!

When you go to the range to practice, make sure you:
1) Have a specific target : pick a target – even if it’s not the correct distance (it can be a tree or flag that is shorter or longer), and try to hit a set number of shots within 30-40 feet of the target
2)Setup a practice station with clubs and alignment rods to train your aim You’ll see every tour player doing this! Lay a club or alignment rod down parallel to your target line to train your eyes to aim correctly!
3) Use multiple clubs and vary targets: This is essential for improvement! Don’t just hit one club! Work your odd or even numbered irons and change targets regularly
4) Go through your pre-shot routine as you would on the course:
I see very few players do this – practice like you play! Go through your on-course routine, especially in your pre-round warm up!
5) Pay attention to the poor shots so you can identify where you need to focus: Many players shrug their shoulders and rake the next ball over after a poor shot, but these are the shots you need to watch. See if the ball curves or starts off line. Watch where it lands, and don’t rush to the next shot!
6) Work on your weaknesses, but try to touch each area of the game each day.
Find the areas that need the most work and spend time on them, but try to find time to hit some pitches, chips, bunker shots, and putts even when your full-swing gets the focus!

How it LOOKS when we are practicing on the driving range!
What we SEE when we get to the course!

A family member in need

I try to not ask for assistance, but recently my cousin lost her husband unexpectedly. Suzanne and her son, Gage, are without insurance or income right now. Although she doesn’t like to publicize it, she struggles with MS, and, although she has two degrees, is unable to find work in her area. If you are willing, I’d like to ask you to make a donation to the Go Fund Me that I started in her name. They have been wrecked with tragedy and anything you can do would mean a lot to them and me. Click HERE if you will consider helping someone who is need this holiday season.

Thank you in advance!
